Share your culinary
brilliance with our shoppers and develop a fresh farmers’ market recipe to
demonstrate at the market.
Donating your time and skills
to the farmers’ market helps keep small family farmers in business here in
California. Cooking with us also
directly benefits our local community by teaching families how easy and fun it
is to cook healthy locally sourced food.
We are happy to promote your
local restaurant, local catering company, cookbook, food blog, etc. at the
farmers’ market on the day of your demonstration. In addition, for a small tax-deductible donation
of $50.00 we will also promote you in our bi-monthly newsletter and social
media outlets. We have a following and reach of nearly 2,000 local Orange
Time Commitment: Demonstrations are Sundays--start by 11:00am and end
by 12:30pm. Please arrive by 10:30am to allow time for set up and prep.
Ingredients: Focus your recipe on incorporating seasonal fresh
produce available from our farmers.
Swing by and give us a look, as some new crops are introduced week to
week. You can also check with our manager, Elle, on new seasonal items. Our
farmers donate produce to you for the demonstration onsite, arranged by our
manager. Please note: we cannot provide
meat, eggs, seafood, oils, cheeses, and nuts—as these are higher price point
items from our farmers that we do not have the budget to cover at this
time. Likewise, we ask chefs to procure
all additional non-farmers’ market ingredients they wish to use.
Equipment: Through a generous donation by Le Pain Quotidien, we have a dedicated chef
booth available for cooking. This booth includes: 10x10 tent canopy, screened
mesh walls on three sides (front open), mobile cooking cart with prep station, electric burner, and convection oven, 3 compartment sink, portable tabletop
grill, electricity access, napkins, cutlery, and plates for sampling to
shoppers. Please provide your own cutting boards,
mixing bowls, pots and pans, knives, and other equipment you will need for the
day. Cooking outside of a formal kitchen with an audience can be quite an
enriching and fun experience for a chef, but it can also be a tough one if we
don’t plan ahead. Please ask if you have any questions on equipment and set up.
The Recipe: Please provide
your recipe to our manager Elle at firstname.lastname@example.org no later than 3 days before your demonstration
date. Please also include any logos,
photos, or contact information you would like included on the recipe for
customers. We are happy to co-brand this recipe with you to provide to our
shoppers at the market.
